I have decided that every day, I will have a schedule. I wake up with a mission. I actually go to bed with the next days events already planned in my head, so that I have something to look forward to in my time off. It's almost like I am trying to justify that I have so much time to myself, but oh so many things to do. It keeps the prickly guilt away.
Tuesday is laundry day. Yep. That's my new thing. Each day of the week is going to hold some type of task. I am going to get on a first name basis with the laundry lady. That way when I go in there with my sack of laundry, container of quarters and my little simple pleasures water lily and jasmine scented Downy sheets... I will feel like I have a new friend. (Even though she speaks fluent Spanish and does nothing but watch her telenovellas. Which I try so desperately hard to understand because they look enthralling.) Maybe I will bring her coffee next time. Just as an understanding that I am not an unemployed asshole, but a serious housewife that takes folding her husband's collared golf shirts very seriously. And she'll nod at me with approval.
There is something therapeutic about doing laundry. I don't know what it is, but I love doing it. I love separating the colors, love the smell of laundry detergent and fabric softener. I even love the abrasive smell of bleach once in a while, because I know its getting my whites as bright as they can possibly be. It's strange, but its "my thang" as Sam would say. I like seeing things dirty and then clean again. Just like I love when our apartment is untidy so I can sigh... and then clean it all up and fix it right again. Just to sit on the couch and stare at how clean it is. Call it a little OCD... I call it satisfying.
Anyway, I had a fun weekend. Friday night we spent some time with Doreen, Sean and the kids. It's always nice to kick back with them. We always have a few good laughs and tell a million stories, and then you look up and the time has just flown by.
Saturday night, I had my first night back at Dean's. It's weird being back to working on the weekends but hey... I made a ton of dough. Like a good girl, I put it right into the Chase ATM as soon as I walked out. After work, I hoped a train to the city to meet up with Brian and Marco, who were at our friend Tonia's birthday party. Her husband had an open bar for her at Failte on 29th and 2nd from 9-12. I didn't make it for the open bar... but certainly made it for three Magners and two shots of Jameson. Yeah! I'm officially on a bender! Also, there was a DJ playing music only from the top hits of the early nineties. It was the perfect combination for DPC (Dance Party Central).

Oh yeahhhh... I was a rock star that evening.
Sunday, Brian and I opted to do a lazy day. a) Due to my subsequent hangover and b) Sundays are the only day we have to hang out together. We rolled around in bed until we really had to get something to eat because we were famished. We ended up cooking a healthy brunch, and then seeing a movie around 4 pm. We went and saw the Dark Knight. Honestly? Heath Ledger was amazing. All of the hype is completely accurate. And in case I hadn't mentioned before? Christian Bale is so incredibly hot.
Well... I'm off to cook dinner for Brian. I like to leave him good things to eat while I work at night. It has royally sucked getting used to our opposite schedules. So, I cook for him to let him know I was thinking of him. All day. It makes him smile, and keeps me feeling content that I was able to fill his belly. Newest obsession? Real Simple magazine. Seriously, some of the best recipes I've found in a long time.
Wow.
