So, yesterday was a really cool day. I had brunch with the girls from Trat V at Macmenamin’s. The seven of us met there early to pre-game with Mimosas, and then had a killer brunch. We didn’t leave until almost two o’clock in the afternoon. I had too much fun, and drank way too much. I don’t know who I thought I was, but today has been tough to say the least.
It’s a great little brunch deal. $40 all you can eat and drink of Mimosas or Bloody Marys. The food was really incredible. There was a raw bar of oysters, clams and shrimp cocktail and some really delicious cold bean and vegetable salads. Breads, bagels, cream cheese and fresh fruit. A hot buffet with Eggs Benedict, bacon, sausage, homefries, Seafood Paella (which was to die for) and some kind of salmon dish in a lemon butter sauce. There was also a dessert bar with Tiramisu, cheesecake and some kind of chocolate brownie cake. Honestly? I think I put my fork in every piece of food they had out. I ate so much that I don’t even want to look at food today. I actually went out for lunch with two of my girlfriends from work about a half an hour ago and I almost dry heaved on the walk back to the office, because I hate food that much today. I feel like a bloated bull frog.
In addition to me eating like a piglet, I also drank like a fish. Apparently, I had to get my money’s worth of the $40 all-you-can-drink Mimosa deal. I think I may have tossed back about six of them. I lost count. All that I know is Debbie kept waving at the waiter for more rounds, and I lost count between the Seafood Paella and that last piece of cheesecake. Our poor waiter must have come to bring us drinks like fifteen times, to the point that one of us apologized, “Its okay. We are servers, too. We know how much this sucks.” But yet… keep them coming pal, and don’t make us wait because you know we already have your tip calculated to the penny.
The one thing that I love about getting together with my restaurant girls is that we are always busting at the seams to get some gossip out. Most times, we are all talking at the same time- not missing a beat- and screaming over each other. Once we all got a good Mimosa buzz, we really were loud. I can’t even imagine being the people sitting near us. I would’ve wanted to strangle us.
When we are all together, its like we can’t get enough stories out. Between bitching about our men, to talking about the new nail salon with the best UV Gel and everyone planning the road trip up to my wedding, to the hot date someone had… There’s never a dull moment. Especially when liquor gets into it. Then the real gossip comes out. I love these girls because we tell each other everything. We are all from different backgrounds, different ages and upbringings and we have such a bond. Its pretty cool. We always have fun.
So, after brunch, I couldn’t get enough of my girls- or the Champagne for that matter- and ended up having a mini-party at my apartment with Mimosas and Madonna galore. It turned to quite an afternoon. Then our friends Marco and Charo came over with puffed pastries which I ate like it was my last meal.
My body is pretty angry at me today. My brain is completely fried today and I have absolutely no motivation to be at work today. I also have to leave here to go work at Trat V directly after the office, and my eyelids are having a really hard time staying open.
Friggin’ Mimosas.
