Today I am sitting at the Bay Lodge in Plettenberg Bay on the Western Cape of South Africa. This has been my first opportunity to get behind a computer, and I can tell you... I don't mind all that much.
I am sitting on a plush couch in front of doors that are wide open to a balcony which is overlooking the sands and tides of the Indian Ocean.
I've never felt so calm or focused in my life.
Today we are driving three hours up the coast to Port Elizabeth. Then we will be staying at a game reserve called Shamwari. This will be the closest thing to a live safari that we can get. I'm really excited.
Yesterday, we spent the day walking hand in trunk with elephants at a sanctuary a few miles from here. We got to feed, talk and walk with them for over an hour. It was pretty wild.
Last night we made friends with the manager of the guest lodge that we are staying at . Her fiance is a psychadelic trance dj from Germany. As it turns out, we have made a pretty cool connection with them, that will hopefully last us a lifetime.
I am drinking Roobios tea right now. It is my new favorite obession. It is a decaffinated herbal tea. Roobios means red bush, which it is made from. The tea is tinted red and tastes devine.
I just wrote my Mom an email to say hello, and started to feel the pangs of missing her a bit. I am trying to just focus on our time here and not wish this trip away... but I can feel it flying by. There have been some pictures of our wedding trickling onto Facebook and in emails, and it is truly amazing to see the pictures. It has been a week since we have been married, and it truly is such a good time in our lives.
I've never felt more secure, safe and in love in my life...
