"Thanks so much for yesterday darling!"

It's tough watching your friends go through a hard time. A lot of my favorite girls have hit some rough spots. All that I try to do is listen and be there. I try to remind them every day that I am here for them- no matter what. I try to help them smile and realize how much they are worth to me.

My friend Gina recently broke up with her boyfriend of almost three years. Break-ups are never easy for anyone. We've all been there for the times of trying to convince yourself you will make it through when it seems like the pain and anxiety will never end.

I remember the end of my last relationship. The pain was so intense. I never thought I would have the appetite to eat a real meal again. I drowned myself in alcohol and stayed up watching bad television until all hours of the morning. I remember I never wanted to be alone. I always had to be around someone for fear I would think too much about the reality of what had happened.

I remember those first weeks. When you open your eyes in the morning and that familiar pain of "Oh my God its really over" wakes you every day. The severity of the situation hits you every time you roll over and his side of the bed is empty.

You want it to be alright. You want to know that there will be a time when you will look back on this time and shrug. For it to be a distant memory. The struggle to be long gone and you to be back to yourself. Back to the girl that looks in the mirror knowing how gorgeous she is. Taking the world two martinis at a time.

For Gina, it hasn't been easy the past few weeks. She is one of the strongest and most confidant people that I know. Her energy and enthusiasm is contagious. It's unsettling to see her struggling through this time in her life, but I know she will make it. She is a survivor in so many different ways.

Over the last few weeks, I decided that Gina needed an intervention of sorts. Gina wanted to have a girls night out. I interpreted this into Gina needing a rally. I wanted her spirits to be lifted and to help her remember how much she is loved... that she isn't alone and that we've all been there. So, I turned her night out into a break-up party! I got together seven of her favorite women to "help welcome Gina back into the paths of suitable gentlemen." We got all dolled up in our favorite party dresses and hit the city to help G eat and drink her troubles away. After all, what's better than a table full of women, wine and good food to get you excited for your new future?

We started at Flute in the city. We shared a bottle of champagne and toasted to Gina- that she may find the happiness that she is looking for. Afterward, we headed over to BLT Prime where we were wined and dined and spoiled rotten by the staff. They even sent out a dessert with the words "Congratulations Gina" scribbled on her plate in chocolate. Everyone loved what we were celebrating. That instead of wallowing in her break-up, Gina was professing to every handsome waiter, "By the way... I'm single!!" She smiled and laughed the entire night. Which is exactly what I was hoping for.

It just goes to show, "A woman is like a teabag. You never know how strong it is until it's in hot water." (Right, G?)
