I am really, really so glad that it is Friday. I only have one hour and twenty-five minutes left to this work day, less whatever time I have the guts to get up and sneak out of here early. It can’t come fast enough.

Tonight, we are going to visit Marco and Charo in the Bronx. Charo has graciously offered to help me get all of my 221 invitations ready to be mailed out tomorrow morning, so we have decided to make a nice evening out of it and cook some dinner, too. They live in a beautiful apartment on Lamport Place in the Bronx. It's gorgeous out, so we are going to make some food on the grill, listen to some music and drink some good wine, too.

On my lunch break today, I took advantage of the seventy degree weather, and went for a really long walk. It was an awesome walk, like the heart-pumping kind where you want to take a shower afterwards.

I walked to Barnes & Noble to get Charo a little something. (She is about to put together her life’s dream of a business plan, and I need to show her a little support.) Then I walked down Mamaroneck Avenue to the Fed-Ex store. I sent my Dad a mix CD of possible slow songs for us to dance to at the wedding reception. After that, I walked another fifteen minutes to Whole Foods. It is one of my favorite places to food shop. It is the kind of store that overwhelms you with all of the good products in it. The produce itself is amazing. It’s a little pricey but you can find everything that you are looking for… and everything that you didn’t realize that you were looking for, but it all ends up in your cart anyway. For example, my new hemp bag for $11.99 that reads "Green NYC" on it. I had to have it.

Anyway, WF always makes me want to dust off all of the cookbooks that I have been avoiding, and start cooking again. I’m starting to feel really guilty that I haven't been.

I used to spend so much time researching on Recipezaar and Epicurious for the perfect evening meal for me and Brian. Now, in the the rare occasion that I am home on a weeknight, its all about take-out, quickie pastas and sushi. I used to be such a good little wifey, cooking it up all the time. There is nothing better than watching someone eat what you have spent time creating. I swear, once this wedding is over? Back to being a good cook. I will get all my new gadgets out to play with, it will be dinner party central.

Lately, in lieu of making my own culinary creations, I’ve been watching a lot of Top Chef. I am secretly obsessed with that show. I can never get enough of it. I love to see the chefs whipping up crazy creations. I love the combinations of flavors and ingredients that I would never think to use. I was never sure I would be good at it, but it's really not that difficult to cook, you just have to pay attention to what tastes good.

Anyway, at WF I picked up eight shrimp skewers which I am now marinating in a Thai Ginger sauce with red pepper flakes, garlic and cilantro. It smells so good! I can’t wait to get it on the grill. I am also going to run and get a nice bottle of wine across the street at Select Wines before we head over there.

I just can't wait to be out of work for the day. It's really killing me to be sitting at this desk right now. I need to be out in the sunshine snapping pictures. TGIF!
