Mission accomplished! Mom found the dress, and it is stunning.
We spent a lot of time in the city exhausting ourselves by rummaging through hundreds of dresses at Saks, Bloomie’s, Macy’s and Lord & Taylor. To our frustration there was nothing.
Yesterday, we finally found it. We ended up finding it at Elephant’s Trunk. All that I can say, without giving away too many details, is that this dress is phenomenal.
When she walked out of that dressing room in it, a rush of emotion went through me. She was more beautiful than I had ever seen her. Her eyes were dancing and a huge grin was painted on her face. I immediately jumped off my chair to hug and kiss her, and to tell her how much I love her.
The only way that I can describe it is that in that moment, it was like a weight lifted off of my shoulders. It was the missing piece of the puzzle. I wanted everyone to know that this woman was my mother. I was so proud and so happy for her that she felt as gorgeous as she looked. It was what I wanted more than anything else that I could want for my wedding day.
When we got in the car after leaving the boutique, my mother let out a loud, “Woo hoooo!!!” We immediately started laughing and crying. Being able to find that dress brought such feeling of joy and overwhelming happiness to both of us. We sat in Mom’s car, wiping the tears off our cheeks and laughing out loud because of how ridiculous we must look to anyone who could see us.
It’s a special time for both of us. I have realized that this is the time in my life that my Mom has been waiting all these years to share with me. I am just so grateful to have her by my side.
When we got home from the dress shop to our surprise Brian and my good friend Gina had a spread set up for our arrival. There was a bottle of Veuve Clicquot (my favorite), shrimp cocktail and cheese and crackers. It was so great! I played tunes on my Ipod and we all sat and enjoyed the champagne celebration, talking about the anticipation of the day she gets to wear the dress.
Mom always says, “It is such a peaceful feeling knowing that your daughter has found her true love in this life.”
This weekend was truly special. It was full of hysterical laughing fits and happy tears shining through champagne and red wine buzzes.
Ican't believe that I am getting married in two months. It’s all coming together now. Most of the nerves and jitters have disappeared and have been replaced with excitement. It feels just like the night that Brian proposed to me. There was more love in the world that evening than I had ever felt before.
I just keep looking forward to our wedding day so that all of our friends and family, the people we care about most in the world, can be in one place and celebrate with us.
Only seventy-six days to go…
