Bacon

I didn’t make it to the gym today. It wasn’t the typical “I am not getting my lazy as out of bed to go to the gym” kind of morning. It was the “Holy shit! I need something to grab onto in order to pull myself out of the bed because of my excruciating muscle pain” kind of morning. After spending the entire night tossing and turning with muscle pain, I decided that today would be my off day instead of Sunday.

Great choice on my part. It was so nice to come to work presentable with my make-up applied so consistently. Something about the lights in the locker room leaves me looking like a train wreck. That and I never have a good hair day walking out of the gym. Hey! No pain no gain!

It’s almost comical how badly I am waddling around today. I worked my legs yesterday and now it is so bad that I have to put two hands on my chair to lower myself onto it. I look like a ninety-three year old lady. Actually, a ninety three year old might actually be a bit more nimble than I am at this point.

I’m having a bit of a struggle with this new diet of mine. I’m trying to get my head around the fact that I am allowed to have more fat in my diet. Cutting out the carbohydrates and adding the fats will give me more energy and in essence make me leaner. Trying to teach myself that it is okay to add bacon, cheese and avocado to my daily salad is no easy task.

Try telling someone who lost thirty-two pounds on Weight Watchers that you are allowed to have fat again. It’s close to impossible. I still look at my food and size up each morsel with its corresponding point and estimated weight. I have a daily argument with my husband over this.
For example, last night he gave me a zillion almonds to eat. In Dub-Dub land, that would be equivalent to a lot of points. The night before that, I ate a burger with no fat cheese and turkey bacon on it. Points up the wazoo I tell you! Rita, my little Jewish princess of a Dub-Dub leader, would have a canary if she saw what I was eating.

But I forge ahead! Any diet that tells me I can eat bacon is my new best friend. That and the fact that I can “carb up” on the weekends. Meaning tomorrow I am allowed to eat whatever I want to. Tomorrow night I already made a reservation at La Riserva to make sure I can stuff my face with an entire bowl of pasta. Bacon… pasta… I don’t know how this is all going to turn out in my favor. But I’m not arguing.
