Locker 28

Okay so it’s been a while…

So much has happened in the last few weeks! I’ve started to make some changes in my life in many different ways. It’s been difficult to get the hang of it all while keeping in touch with what makes me the happiest… writing.

A few weeks ago I got a promotion. I work at a marketing firm in White Plains where I was hired as an Administrative Assistant. Recently, I was moved into a new position as the Import/ Purchasing Assistant. I’m basically in charge of buying product to stock our warehouses and make sure that all orders are processed in a timely fashion. On the flip side, I work with China to get the product we manufacture overseas. I am responsible for all of the customs documents, container loads and delivery confirmations, etc. Long story short, it is the kind of job that I have always wanted. I’m challenged and am constantly using my brain. Only problem? I have absolutely no opportunity to goof off and surf the web. Needless to say, I am far behind on all of my celebrity gossip and favorite blogs. C'est la vie…

Brian introduced me to a new diet a few weeks ago. I should actually say it is a new way of life more than a diet. It’s called the Anabolic Solution. It’s a diet that is used to help build strength and muscle mass by using your body and its metabolism in different ways. In a nut shell, you trick your body to burn fat instead of carbohydrates. Basically, your diet consists of proteins, vegetables and low fat dairy. No sodium and no carbohydrates of any kind. Do I need to repeat that? I haven’t had a single bite of a carb in ten days straight. And the kicker? We aren’t drinking alcohol of any kind during the week. Only on the weekends… and it is limited to red wine or vodka.

So this is my new life. I never thought I would throw myself into something so whole heartedly. We literally spend over an hour each night prepping the food that we will eat for the following day. Every morning we are up before the sun rises and at the gym working our little hearts out.
A lot has changed. My energy level and outlook out on life in are drastically different. I used to be ten minutes late for work every day. Now I am at my desk a half hour before I am supposed to be, sipping on a protein shake. I’ve actually had to cancel plans because I am frightened to expose myself to temptations I can’t deny myself quite yet. If I know there will be carb heaven and good wine at a friend’s house, I actually fib and find a way to stay home and eat healthy. It’s an entire shift in my life.

I feel like it is mostly the commitment that will get me to where I want to be. I am not looking to lose any more weight or become a body building poster child. I’m just looking to be in the absolute best shape of my life.

Today at the gym, I picked a locker that would be mine for the duration. I settled on number twenty-eight. My thought process is that by the time of my twenty-eighth birthday, I am going to be in the sickest shape ever. So every day when I walk to Locker 28 I am going to repeat that number in my head over and over again…
