"It Looks Like Swine Flu."

So, Friday I come down with a cold. I work my way through it, lounge around after work and relax. Nothing a bit of tea and relaxation can't fix. Saturday I spent the day watching Law and Order re-runs on the couch.

That night, I had plans to attend Lora's bachelorette in the city. Lora is a very good old friend of mine. We lived together in Florence for four of the best months of our lives. I had already missed her bridal shower a few weeks prior, and I was certainly not going to miss this event. (Especially since she lives in Massachusetts and her bachelorette was here in NYC.) A group of us girls have stayed in touch through the years. Lora, Caitlyn, Jenna and a few others have remained very close. We made such a bond during that time in our lives, and memories that could never be replicated. Needless to say, I was thoroughly looking forward to having a night out with Lora and Caitlyn. (Jenna couldn't make it.) Head cold and all, I headed into Manhattan in the pouring rain to celebrate my girl's happiness.

We went out and had a hell of a time. A big group of us enjoyed a fabulous dinner at Felice Wine Bar, (I had the pumpkin ravioli special, which was absolutely divine) followed by dancing and drinks at R-Bar. The club suited us perfectly. They played so many songs from our Firenze clubbing days. We kept having flashbacks of the Space Electronica where we spent many late nights dancing and drinking. Times of our lives.

As I danced the night away with my girls, I couldn't help but think about how much time had passed by since we were living in Florence together. It has been eight years. It feels like yesterday. I can still remember so many details. I could never forget those days.

The next morning I woke up with a really bad sore throat. I didn't think much of it. Later that afternoon, B and I are lounging on the couch watching football. One second I am laughing and talking, and the next I am writhing in pain. Aches, high fever and could not even swallow. It was insane.

The next morning (Monday) I went to the doctor and proceeded to dry heave into the trash barrel in the examination room. She looks right at me and says, "This looks like Swine Flu." Now if you know anything about me at all, I am a severe hypochondriac. After hearing these words, I then proceeded to have a panic attack.

She decides to rush me to the Urgent Care center. I get an IV of fluids and all kinds of testing done. After a full exam she says, "You are presenting as Swine Flu but your examination suggests Strep Throat." She did the instant test for Strep, which came back negative. So at this point, they still have no idea what I have. They put me on aggressive antibiotics and surprisingly, I am finally starting to feel better today, which means I don't have Swine.

Sigh. It's been a long week. And this Space Electronic Heartbreaker? Is going on hiatus for a while.
