2009 is Mine

He was perched up at the counter, sipping on his fifth Corona, looking down at me through his blue sparkly 2009 glasses when the tone of the conversation suddenly turned serious. "You know... I've been reading your writing a lot lately."

I was bundled up on the couch in my hot pink Snuggie. I had a fresh glass of Veuve in my hand and as I adjusted my 2009 glasses on the bridge of my nose, I felt a bit uneasy. I wasn't sure what was coming next.

"You are constantly talking about how you are searching. You are trying to find that thing that you are meant to do in this world. You know, when you were younger you made a lot of choices that weren't right for you. I think you went down that path and you knew you were letting yourself down. You kept going and still you felt as though you weren't right..."

I nodded my head in agreement and swallowed a big gulp of champagne. I filled the glass up again and waited for him to continue. I knew I was about to have a huge realization made for me.

"You came here to New York with me. You were still at the edge of all of those years of not following the right path. I think you believed that at first coming here was wrong. I think you thought that you were making another bad decision."

I peered up at him in utter shock. I couldn't believe how well he knew me.

"What you need to realize is that you are doing the right thing. You are already doing what you are meant to do in this world. You are meant to be my wife, Morgan. It's as simple as that. You are living your life... right now. Stop searching or its going to pass you by."

With tears in my eyes and through my rose tinted glasses, I looked up at the man through my who stole my heart five years ago. "You are absolutely right."

We spent the rest of the night combing through our feelings and dreams over many drinks. Cuddled on the couch, we talked of our favorite childhood memories and times with our family. We planned out our next world tour and pointed out our destinations in the air like dots on a map. He held me and ran his fingers through my hair, "Morgan, we are going to live the most incredible life." And don't I know it.
